Meet our Lawyers

Dennis van Alst

As a senior lawyer, I am an experienced advisor and sparring partner for entrepreneurs. I mainly advise and litigate on commercial contracts and other agreements, on the lease and lease out of commercial space and on the purchase or sale of real estate.

My role as a lawyer in a legal dispute can best be described as a combination of puzzles and chess. In addition to a thorough knowledge of “the game” of law, I have developed sharp analytical thinking skills, the necessary dexterity and strategic insight. I work in a challenging profession, and it is this combination of skills that underlines my value as a lawyer.

I am always interested in the person behind the entrepreneur. Understanding you helps me to get the most from our professional relationship. I prefer short lines of communication and an accessible, informal contact with my clients.

Often it all starts with a good cup of coffee. I’ll be happy to make one for you! If you would like to learn more about my experience and get acquainted, feel free to mail me at vanalst@duxadvocaten.nl or call 085 222 9006

Frederik Moorman van Kappen

After working in the notarial profession for a short time, I started working in the legal profession in 1993. At that time, people still received all-round training, which gave them a basic knowledge of the various areas of the law. Having this multidisciplinary background has been valuable, as many of the issues I deal with are not straightforward but touch neighboring areas of law. Over the years I have worked as a lawyer and as a partner at various large law firms, focusing on corporate and insolvency law. I have taken the necessary specialization courses in these areas, and I am a member of the Corporate Litigation Association and the Association of Insolvency Lawyers (Insolad).

If a company is doing well, I am often involved in mergers and acquisitions or joint ventures or setting up new entities at home and abroad. Drafting or advising on international (English) contracts is also part of my daily work. Although lawyers are often seen as “deal breakers”, I am more of a “deal maker”. The challenge is to come up with a solution for every problem that arises which does justice to the interests of both parties. The latter is necessary to guarantee the long-term faithful adherence of both parties to the contract. This requires creativity, “out of the box” thinking but also integrity because both parties must have confidence in the solution found.

If a company is not doing well, my clients can also count on me. Whether it concerns disputes between shareholders or between shareholders and/or the management and/or other company bodies, problems with business relationships or chain partners or economic headwinds of a temporary or permanent nature, in all these situations I assist my clients with advice and legal assistance. They know that they can count on me. I believe that is an essential part of my job as a lawyer: being there for my clients, especially when things go wrong.

I do not accept just anyone as a client; my aim is to build a trustful long-term relationship with “ups-and-downs” and “for better and for worse” with my clients!
